DanTrials was founded in June 2008 in order to complete a management buyout of a phase I clinic in Copenhagen held by the now closed Cyncron.
In 2010, DanTrials moved to Copenhagen University Hospital, Bispebjerg where all Clinical Pharmacology of The Capital Region of Denmark (Danish: Region Hovedstaden) is consolidated.
Today, DanTrials is the only commercial clinical pharmacology research unit in Denmark performing clinical studies for the bio/pharmaceutical industry.

Our key staff comprises Chief Clinical Research Physician Jesper Sonne, who is responsible for all medical matters and physicians employed at DanTrials and CEO Torben Balchen who is responsible for all project managment related matters.
- Jesper Sonne, MD, DMSc, is a clinical pharmacologist and gastroenterologist by training and has been working with the practical conduct of phase I and II studies since 2002. Jesper Sonne has more than 20 years of clinical experience and also consults for the Danish Medicines Agency.
- Torben Balchen, MSc is the CEO of DanTrials and works as project manager/study coordinator. Torben is very experienced in protocol writing, submissions to regulatory authorities, pharmacokinetic analyses, data evaluation and reporting.
In addition, our team comprise a number of physicians, nurses, and pharmacists with several years of experience of conducting clinical trials employed on a contract basis.
